The Merrill W. Linn Land and Waterways Conservancy was founded in April of 1988 in memory of Merrill W. Linn, a local attorney and avid outdoorsman who spent much of his life exploring the woods, streams, fields, and byways surrounding his native Lewisburg, and sharing that experience and knowledge with others.

Since its founding, the Merrill W. Linn Land & Waterways Conservancy has protected woodlands, agricultural lands, streams and wetlands. We maintain four trails for public enjoyment. These efforts are complemented by a very strong educational focus. Each Spring, the Linn Conservancy’s education committee sponsors a series of family-oriented events referred to as “Caring for Communities” to bring attention to the special qualities and pleasures to be enjoyed in our local natural environment. The Buffalo Creek Watershed Alliance, a subsidiary of the Merrill Linn Conservancy since 2002, has monitored Buffalo Creek’s water quality for many years and has been instrumental in promoting stream protection and revitalization programs within the watershed.
